Are you already compliant with the evacuation plan?

What is an evacuation plan?

An evacuation plan is a schematic map showing escape routes and compartmentation, along with active fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, hoses, alarm buttons, signage, and walking directions.

The purpose of the evacuation plan is to guide employees quickly and safely to the assembly point.

The evacuation plan must meet certain requirements:

  • The layout, purpose, and names of rooms must be clearly indicated.

  • The location of compartmentation boundaries must be shown.

  • Walking directions must be clear and logical, leading to the emergency exit.

  • The outdoor assembly point must also be indicated on the plan.

  • The depiction must reflect reality, and the plan must always be correctly oriented according to the user’s position and viewing direction.

  • A good evacuation plan should be large enough (preferably A3 size) to provide a clear overview of the escape route.

How many evacuation plans should be placed?

  • We recommend placing an evacuation plan at every emergency exit used for evacuation.
  • We also advise placing plans along the evacuation route itself.
  • There should be at least one plan per building level.
